All Saints' Day
Today no breath
Of life's allowed
For Autumn spins
Her silken shroud
The earth is bound
(November's needle
Makes the round).
No wind may lift
The fallen leaf,
No flower, split
The face of grief.
No flight of birds
Distracts the eye
Across the smooth
Unraveled sky.
So still the day,
So pure, so bare;
Imprisoned in
Her crystal stare,
Earth waits a miracle -
Man too;
This is the day
All saints pass through.

Halloween
Here you see us play a part in Halloween and we made a jack-o-lantern. Temo and I had great fun in digging out the pumpkin flesh. Halloween is a big deal here, there is even a one week holiday for kids from school. It sounds a bit like what could be a war zone outside right now and the afternoon and evening has been interspersed with 'trick or treaters' turning up for treats. Temo was not one bit perturbed by the various ghosts and ghouls that turned up on the doorstep, he was just interested in what they had in their loot bags and asked for some each time. I think the kids were more scared of him only being half clad waist up. Especially the sweet wee girls who were probably from the local all girl "Sisters of Charity" primary school. Kids start school at 4 years old here. Anyway, slightly naked babies are definitely not part of Irish culture (in this neck of the woods anyway)!
